> 11 Jahre (seit 2015)From her clinical experience as junior physician, Cordula was drawn to pursue scientific approaches in the understanding of disease in an academic context. At a British university, she enjoyed teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level and is proud of her innovative teaching methods which were commended by internal Exam Boards. As BSc Advanced Immunology module convenor, she introduced scientific panel discussions which were very popular with students – and led to the pedagogic award of a Higher Education Academy Fellowship. She was MSc Immunity and Inflammation module and course convenor, managing colleagues, international students and laboratory practicals within budgets.
The greatest part of her time was spent as a supervisor in her own lab, applying for research funding and working on projects at the bench side. Through setting an example, she brought out the best in those she supervised, especially in her PhD students. The topic was broadly “inflammation” in a range of disease models, led to a wealth of publications, some editorial appointments and lots of peer reviewing of manuscripts submitted to scientific journals. As internal examiner for MPhil and PhD degrees she assisted students in complying with the outcome of the viva (further corrections). She was also appointed external examiner for PhD degrees, so is fully aware of wider academic expectations. Cordula loved her work as an ethical review board member where she felt she could make a difference in attitudes and work cultures whilst pursuing scientific outcomes in small animal models.
At a time when Cordula´s son went to university to launch his own academic career in neuroscience and she began to realise that all her own work would not translate into a tangible benefit for patients, she decided to move into clinical research. A position presented itself at a CRO (contract research organisation) in her native Germany, where she quickly excelled in all the tasks connected with setting up trials and interpreting study data, following distinct regulatory frameworks and optimising interactions between the various roles in the organisation. She worked on medical device and pharmaceutical projects and was commended for the breadth and depth of knowledge, problem solving attitude and speed of delivery.
Cordula is keen to assist or guide you in your scientific writing tasks. Scientific rigor, clarity and meaningfulness are her intended outcomes for your work.
